About This workshop
This intensive workshop offers hands-on experience in designing, building, and deploying high-altitude IoT devices for environmental monitoring. Participants will learn to integrate LoRaWAN communication protocols with microcontrollers like ESP32 or Raspberry Pi, focusing on sensor selection for atmospheric data, soil moisture, and wildlife tracking. We'll cover payload design for balloon satellite deployment, data transmission to cloud platforms, and basic data analysis. Emphasizing practical application, attendees will construct a prototype sensor package, understanding the challenges and solutions for robust operation in extreme conditions. This unique event leverages New Mexico's natural environment and scientific heritage, providing valuable skills for environmental scientists, engineers, and tech enthusiasts.
