About This workshop
This immersive intermediate workshop, held in Providence, will guide participants through the entire process of designing, assembling, and programming sustainable Internet of Things (IoT) sensors. Focusing on low-power components and biodegradable materials where possible, attendees will build functional prototypes capable of monitoring environmental data relevant to Rhode Island's unique coastal ecosystems, such as water temperature, pH, or air quality. The session covers circuit design, microcontroller programming (using platforms like ESP32 or Arduino), data collection, and basic data visualization, preparing you to contribute to local conservation efforts or personal projects. Join us to develop practical skills in a rapidly growing field with a critical environmental focus, bridging technology with ecological responsibility.
