About This workshop
This immersive one-day workshop empowers participants to design and implement Internet of Things (IoT) solutions tailored for modern agriculture. You will gain practical skills in selecting appropriate microcontrollers like ESP32s, integrating various environmental sensors for soil moisture, temperature, and light, and programming them to collect and transmit data wirelessly. We will cover data visualization techniques using open-source platforms and discuss energy-efficient deployment strategies for remote farm environments. Participants will leave with a functional prototype and the knowledge to apply these technologies to real-world agricultural challenges, fostering innovation in smart farming practices across Iowa and beyond.
